Good Morning Sweet Friends,  Today is reveal day for Scraps of Darkness's September Kit "The Black Album".  This is a fantastic kit full of papers from My Mind's Eye's Chalk Studio Collection along with some beautiful black and white papers from Imaginisce, and the beautiful Memorpilia Collection from Teresa Collins.

This is a layout that I did using My Mind's Eye Chalk Studio Papers along with the Imaginisce Collection.  This is a photo of my daughter Jenn she took of herself while in San Francisco awhile back.  I used some Heidi Swapp file folders as templetes and created a "file" layout.  I have some photos below showing the inside of the file for Jenn to journal on.

The chipboard I used is all Imagianarium Designs and they are painted with some Folk Art "Cement".

A close-up of my cluster and the chipboard pieces.

And here's some photos of the inside of the file with a journaling card and some tags I made for more journaling.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek and I hope you enjoy!!

Scraps of Darkness September Reveal Day ~~The Black Album~~ Kit

Good Morning Sweet Friends, Today I'm sharing a couple of DT projects using the incredible September kit "The Black Album"

This kit includes beautiful paper lines this month from Teresa Collins "Memorbilia" paper collection and My Mind's Eye "Chalk Studio" collection, along with some beautiful black and white papers from Imaginisce's "Black Ice" collection.

For my first project I did a layout using this month's sketch.  This is a photo of a high school friend of mine who just returned from a Yoga Retreat in Thailand and I thought this photo was perfect for this kit!!  The chipboard is from Imaginarium Designs (Moroccan) which I altered by painting them black and then using some TH embossing powder (Seafoam White).

And here's my second project using the kit.  For this layout I used a sketch from Sketchabilities (#99).  This is a photo of my friend's oldest son and his family.  I used the Teresa Collins "Memorabilia" collection from the kit.  For the background papers I used a couple of my Heidi Swapp File Folders as templetes and loved how it turned out.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy!!!

August-September Tag Trade ~~Scraps of Darkenss~~

Hi Everyone, Today I'm sharing a tag that I made for Lee for Scraps of Darkness's Tag Trade in the Designer's Challenges section of our forum.

To make this tag I first used some mod podge to secure the Tim Holtz Tissue Paper.  After that dried I applied some glue with my glue gun in a random style and around the edges of the tag.  I then laid down some beautiful Variegated Red Leaf (gold leaf) by La D' Ore.  I then stamped in a few areas and then inked the tag with some Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink "Wild Plum".  After that dried I used Lumiere (Citrine) and Lumiere (Sunset Gold) Acrylics to highlight the "veins" of the glue gun work.  I then went over that again with a little Rub n Buff (Spanish Copper) and continued that process along the borders.

This image is by Teddy at Creative Souls, just love her work.  The metal pieces are some i ching hexagons, sorry I can't remember where I found those.  So Lee I hope you enjoy, it was a lot of fun to make!!

"Lift A Designer" Challenge for Scraps Of Darkness

Hi Sweet Friends, Today I'm sharing a project I did for a challenge that I'm hosting over at Scraps of Darkness.  It's called "Lift A Designer" and I'd love for you all to come and join in on the fun.

Just pick one of your favorite Designers and lift a layout.  It doesn't have to been exactly alike, put your own artistic spin on it!!  And you can use whatever products you wish, not just Scraps of Darkness.

I'm hosting the challenger from September-October 31st.  The winner will win one of my Mini Albums and I have prizes for 2nd and 3rd place too!!

Here's one of my favorite artist's work that I decided to lift.  It's alot different than her masterpiece but was so fun!!  So here's Asuka's work that I lifted.

And here's my take on Asuka's work.  I decided to do a layout of the Scraps Of Darkness Design Team.

Thanks for taking a peek, and I hope you'll all come and join in on the fun!!

A Couple Of Mini-Albums And A Tutorial ~~Imaginarium Designs~~

Hi My Sweet Friends,  Today I'm sharing a couple of fun Design Team September Projects for Imaginarium Designs.

My 1st project is a G45 Tag Mini Album in a box that I made.  I'll have a tutorial on the box and the end of my post.  For this album I used the "Heart Picket Fence", along with the "Birds On Board" from Imaginarium Designs.

To alter the chipboard I used some Americana "Butter" paint to match the G45 French Country Collection (one of my faves) after gessoing the pieces.  Here's some photos of the box and album it was so fun to make and I hope you enjoy!!

To adhere the fence I used some scoring tape on each picket for a good hold on the papers.

I used a Graphic 45 Label for the opener on the closure piece.

I also used some velcro under the closure piece and on the side piece.

Here's a few photos of the pages inside the mini album

For my 2nd project I was inspired to do a Vertical TP Mini Album.  I saw one that Lisa Gregory had done and just loved it.  So I went on YouTube and leaned how to create these cute little minis from Ginger at "My Sister's Scrapper", her work is amazing and I learned alot.

So for this mini album I used the Imaginarium Designs words "New Baby" and several of the "Ornate Oval Frames for the cover of the album and for the little tags with my scrappin buddies brand new baby girl!!  I wanted to keep the chipboard on the front white but with a little contrasts as I used white cardstock for the album and TP rolls.  I used the beautiful G45 "Little Darlings" paper line.  So, here's some photos of the mini album and chipboard and I hope you enjoy, it was a lot of fun creating these two project this month!!

This is a couple photos of the cover.  I painted the frame with some Delta Ceramcoat "Oyster White" for a little contrast from the white paper.

Photo of the pockets inside the mini album

For the mini frames I painted them with the "Oyster White" and then painted a little Liquid Pearls "Petal Pink" for a little color.

Here's the little tutorial for the Mini Album Box that I made as promised.

To begin, measure the length, width, & height you want your box to be.  Make sure to add 1/2" in height of your box to make allowances for an embellies on your mini album.

My box here is 5"wide x 10"long x 2 3/4"height.  So my bottom would be 5 1/4"x10, my top width 1/8" larger than bottom and length would be the same as the bottom 10".  My side panels are 2.25" x 10" and the short side panels are 2 1/4" x 5 1/4".  And the closure panel is 1 1/4" x 10".  But your closure can be however wide you want it to hang off the side panel for the opening.

Lay out & distress all the corners if you wish and then adhere your duct tape or cardstock of your chosing.

Then continue to attach box from the sides with more duct tape or cardstock.

Then I cover each panel with the card stock I want to use.  I used score tape to adhere the card stock to the duct tape and it adhered really good.  After that I attach some velcro pads where you wish on the closure panel and the side panel of the box.

So there you are, it's a simple, fun, and easy box to make.  I learned from Tewtami on YouTube who has a video for this.

Don't forget to go to http://imaginariumdesigns.blogspot.com and leave a comment to be eligible to win some fantastic chipboard.  Thanks for taking a peek and I hope you enjoy!!

Multi Medium Canvas ~~Scraps of Darkness~~

Hi Sweet Friends, Today I'm sharing a DT project I did with some scraps from my Scraps of Darkness August Kit "Rustic".  I used the Authentique papers from the kit.  I created this canvas using Vivian Keh's tutorial "Concentrated to Diffuge" at Scraps of Darkness and my new friend Mark, the Male Crafter.

To create this project I watched a tutorial from my new friend Mark http://themalecrafter.blogspot.com. To start I covered the canvas with some Mod Podge and applied some 7 gypsies tissue paper roughly for some texture.  Ater that dried I used my glue gun and just applied here and there as in Vivian Keh's tutorial at http://scrapsofdarkness.blogspot.com under Tutorials as "Concentrated to Diffuge".  I then painted the entire canvas with some black acrylic paint.  After that I applied some Lumiere "Halo Blue Gold Metallic Acrylic paint in areas by dry brushing.  I then added some Tim Holtz "Gold" Dabber paint.  I also used some PearlEx "Aztec Gold" and dry brushed that on too.  For the metal embellishments I used some Ranger Ink Vintaj Patinas (Rust, Victorian Gold) and some Rub-n-buff (Pewter) to accent the pieces to match the canvas work.

The photo was altered using Picmonkey, so fun!!  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy!!
